Overview
This 2-day tour starts with an early morning drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and diverse wildlife. Day 1 Tarangire National Park
Start your adventure with an early morning departure from Arusha at around 7:00 AM. The journey to Tarangire National Park takes approximately 2 hours, getting you to the park by around 9:00 AM. Once inside, begin your morning game drive. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and a variety of bird species. You’ll have the chance to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, and a range of herbivores such as zebras, giraffes, and buffaloes.
In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s designated areas or have a meal at a lodge within the park. Following lunch, continue with an afternoon game drive to further explore the park’s diverse wildlife. As the day winds down, make your way to Karatu, a drive of about 2 hours. Arrive in the evening, check into your chosen lodge or camp, and enjoy dinner. Spend the night in Karatu, resting up for the next day’s activities.
Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater
Depart early from Karatu, around 6:00 AM, heading towards Ngorongoro Crater. The drive to the crater rim takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival, descend into the crater for a morning game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best places to see the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino) in Tanzania. In addition to these, you’ll spot wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and a variety of bird species.
Around midday, pause for a picnic lunch at a designated site within the crater, usually near the hippo pool, allowing you to relax and enjoy the surroundings. After lunch, continue your exploration of the crater, taking in its breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife. In the late afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin your journey back to Arusha. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours, with an expected arrival in the late afternoon or early evening, concluding your 2-day safari experience.
